Alternate Reality and Virtual Reality has been all the talk for the past couple of years. From gaming to engineering, architecture to healthcare there are some benefit to the these technology for sure. But what does it bring to the events industry? Many an organizer are looking for that differentiator that will set their events apart from the rest. These days the brand, service and experience before during and after an event are all important. Entertainment events especially tend to push the envelope further every year.
This year at Coachella the most sought after attraction was not the live performances by star studded pop artists but instead is a 120 foot VR dome named Crysalis that gave revelers an experience like no other. Reading the article from WIRED and it does not take long to realise how much effort it took to deliver such an experience. But is this the future for events of mega scale? Would it eventually be viable for the smaller scale events to deploy a similar experience? Regardless what we think of it today, it will certainly change the way we experience events in the future. Let us hope that it will be in our lifetime.
